Cyanogen OS

We all know that Android is made by Google, but it’s there is more to it than that . Each of the major smart phone manufacturer has their own version of Android with a unique User Interface and applications tailored for the devices they sell. Google works with these manufacturers and ties all of these folks together with Google Play Services, which makes all the androids work the same way.
Then there’s Cyanogen OS . to best explain this version of android we compiled this list.
1.IT IS AN ANDROID

Android begins with the Open Source project Google maintains, gets tweaked by processor manufacturers and then goes to device manufacturers for further modification for their devices. Cyanogen OS does the same thing more or less but adds an extra level of customization that depends solely on your skill level; but all in all it is an android.
2.CYANOGEN OS ISN’T AFFILIATED WITH MANUFACTURERS

Cyanogen is an independent company that makes its custom version of android and offers to manufacturers to load onto their devices. This means they are responsible for system support, adding features and fixing bugs and also software updates.
3.OPTIONAL SOFTWARE PARTNERSHIPS

If you have bought android devices you will notice they come bundled with apps you will never use or don’t even know how to use. These are commonly known as “bloatware” . And chances are you don,t have the access or control to remove them.
Although Cyanogen does come with bloatware it gives you the choice to remove them, giving you the full control you need.
4.CYANOGEN IS ALL ABOUT CHOICE

When you power up most Android phones and tablets right now, you’re presented with the Google Play Store and Google apps and no compelling alternative to any of it. You can disable them one by one and use other alternative but they fail to deliver full functionality you might be looking for.
Cyanogen aims to chance that by offering a fully operational and compelling alternative to the Google Services. They may be a long way off from pulling this off but if you look at the resources they have at their disposal its hard not see them achieving their goal.
5. ITS NOT CYANOGENMOD

Long before the birth of CyanogenOS there was Cyanogenmod, this was a project aimed at adding features to the existing android experience of the first android devices. So if a manufacturer failed to offer your device cyanogenmod was there to offer upgrades and custom tweaks for your device.
CyanogenMod is the community arm of Cyanogen Inc, and CyanogenMod roms can be installed on Cyanogen OS devices, but it is maintained and offered quite differently from Cyanogen OS. It’s mostly for people who want to try out new things before they are dubbed “stable” in an official sense, where Cyanogen OS is something anyone can use easily.
6.AMAZING LOCKSCREEN GESTURES

Even with the screen off, Cyanogen OS has several gestures that can be drawn on the display to activate features. For example, you can trace a “V” on the display to activate the flash on the back of the phone to act as a flashlight. You can also draw a circle to quickly access the camera, and swiping gestures are in place for quick music changes.
It’s a simple feature, but one that makes a huge difference in how quickly you get to features that often take several steps to activate on other devices.
7.POWERFUL THEME ENGINE

Unlike other mobile softwares Android is widely known for its personalization features especially with its theme engines. HTC and Samsung have great theme engines but nothing comes close to the power CyanogenOS offers to its users.
The Cyanogen OS theme engine gives users control over the navigation buttons, lock screen, notification draw, system fonts, and a ton more. Their options can be installed as a whole theme, or cherry picked to deliver the ideal experience for the individual. It’s also growing at a rapid pace, due largely to the community-driven efforts from the Cyanogen team.
8.CYANOGEN WILL FEATURE ON MANY DEVICES THIS YEAR

If you’re waiting for cyanogen because you know this is the software you want there’s a good chance you’ll be seeing this name pop up quite a bit in the coming year. Between a strategic partnership with Qualcomm and their ever-growing list of manufacturer partners, Cyanogen OS is likely to be running on quite a few new devices by the end of the year.
The device list isn’t the only thing growing, in fact the recent round of investments shows the company is going to continue growing rapidly. This means new partnerships, new features, and generally speaking more things to be excited about. 2015 is going to be a fun year for Android, and it’s clear the Cyanogen folks are going to be an interesting part of it
