LG has unveiled the most advanced model of its G Pad tablet dubbed G Pad II 10.1, which is said to offer more features than other devices in the same segment. The device will be showcased at the upcoming IFA event in Berlin next month. Following its official debut, both LTE and Wi-Fi versions of G Pad II 10.1 will become available in markets such as North America, Europe and Asia. Price and availability details will be announced locally at the time of launch. It will be available in Brilliant Bronze colour variant. By 2016, India to have 10 new green supercomputers

The supercomputers will be among the 73 supercomputing facilities planned by the government under a Rs 4,500-crore mission. Besides being cost effective, these computers will also be built to consume less power. “Green supercomputers with a different cooling technology have many advantages. This is the need of the hour... We are planning to build all the 73 supercomputer in the green category,” said Professor Rajat Moona, director general of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing that gave India her first supercomputer. With the November release of Star Wars: Battlefront nearing, Sony has unveiled the limited edition Darth Vaderinspired PlayStation 4 console. The Star Wars-themed custom console will be available through two PS4 bundles which will be available from November 17, Sony announced. BQ will launch Ubuntu OS smartphones in India exclusively via Snapdeal

Spanish device-maker BQ on Thursday said that it was launching two new Ubuntu operating system based smartphones – Aquaris E4.5 and Aquaris E5 — in India via e-commerce marketplace Snapdeal. “There’s been palpable demand for Ubuntu phones in India since the Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition was launched earlier this year. India has long been, and continues to be, a priority market for Ubuntu, having had a successful and established PC business in the region for many years,” the company said. Ubuntu, developed by Britain-based computer software provider Canonical, is a Debian-based open-source Linux operating system that runs everywhere from the smartphone, the tablet and the PC to the server and the cloud. The launch in India follows two Aquaris Ubuntu edition handsets launch in Europe earlier this year; the Aquaris E4.5 in February, and the Aquaris E5 in June. OnePlus is rolling out its first update for the newly launched OnePlus 2. The new update dubbed 2.0.1 version will update OTA and fix a few bugs in the new UI. In terms of improvement, the update is firstly patching out the Stagefright security exploit that is causing Android users a lot of trouble. In other features, the battery performance along with some bugs has been fixed. The user interface logic along with coherence has been improvised too. China smartphone sales fall for the very first time

Sales of smartphones in China declined 4 percent in the quarter, the first year-over-year fall, the company said. “China has reached saturation — its phone market is essentially driven by replacement, with fewer first-time buyers,” said Anshul Gupta, research director at Gartner. The country accounted for about 30 percent of total smartphones sales during the second quarter, according to the report. Gartner also said worldwide smartphone sales grew at the slowest pace since 2013. Still, Apple Inc’s share of the worldwide smartphone sales market rose to 14.6 percent from 12.2 percent a year earlier. Total iPhone sales in China soared 68 percent to 11.9 million units, Gartner said. A 16-year-old Canadian boy of Indian origin, Anmol Tukrel, has developed a personalized search engine which he claims to 21% more accurate than Google on average and can be as high as 47% more accurate than the search engine giant. He started working on the search engine as a project to submit in the Google Science Fair, which is a global competition that's open for students aged between 13 to 18 years. Anmol Tukrel, who has just passed the 10th grade, said that it took him about 2 months to design and 60 hours to code the search engine. He further said, "I thought I would do something in the personalized search space. It was the most genius thing ever. But when I realized Google already does it, I tried taking it to the next level." Who would have thought that Cyanogen would make the most popular Android ROM in the world, but now it seems that their influence is now expanding beyond a level of the third part developer world.
